HistoryCallville Bay was founded in 1864, by Mormon Elder Anson Call, who discovered the location while looking for a steamboat port along the Colorado River. Three buildings were constructed initially, a post office, a warehouse and a corral. In 1867, Callville Bay was turned into an outpost for the Army and called Fort Callville. The outpost was closed in May 1868.
