History
Mount Charleston, Nevada is a Census Designated Place, meaning that it
is not quite a town. This Southern part of the State was added to
Nevada May 5, 1866 when it absorbed Pah-Ute County in Arizona. The
transfer occurred because it was thought that Nevada could better
handle the population boom that would result from the recent discovery
of gold in the area.
